Megan Drummer, a waitress at Sikorski’s River Way Café from Syracuse, Ohio sits on the porch and takes a smoke break while Ryan Mills, 10, grandson of Mark Sikorski, waits outside on for his mother, Jill Sikorski, to pick him up to take him home. Meanwhile Linda Grimm of Syracuse, Ohio sits with her husband Ron Grimm as she talks on the phone and takes a bite out of her toast. The cafe is known for it's community, where everybody knows everybody.

Historically reserved for sharp shoot'n cowboys and outlaws, now the pool room at Doc Holliday's Saloon in Glenwood Springs, Colorado is occasionally dominated by Mennonite women who drop in to take a few shots of their own, while on holiday at the nearby hot springs and spa.

Ala Khan takes a moment to smell the fresh flowers of her bouquet while traveling to her wedding reception in Santa Barbara, Calif. Although there is no pressure from Khan's family to wear a hijab, Khan chooses to wear it to honor her faith, culture and future husband who is an American-Muslim convert of European ancestry, "The things I love about this country is the freedom we enjoy, to choose." Said the bride's mother, Afaf Tjorman.
