Whitney Matewe: Still Division

Whitney Matewe is the Deputy Director of Photography at NBC News and MSNBC. Currently based in Los Angeles but having spent her formative years in various countries around the globe, Matewe relishes creatively collaborating with photographers and artists from all over the world, across various styles of image making. Matewe was previously a Photo Editor at TIME Magazine, leading the culture and entertainment visuals — working primarily on portraiture, features, and conceptual essays. Additionally, Matewe curated TIME's franchise packages including TIME 100, TIME 100 Next, Women of the Year, TIME 100 Companies and Next Generation Leaders. Prior, Matewe worked on the photo teams at National Geographic Magazine, The New Yorker Magazine, The Intercept and Condé Nast. Outside of photo editing, Matewe has photographed portraits that published in The Washington Post and The New Yorker Magazine.
Matewe graduated from the University of Missouri’s School of Journalism where she studied photojournalism and won the SPJ Region 7 Mark of Excellence Award for her micro-documentary “We Are Human,” a short film celebrating Pride in the queer community.

Craig F. Walker: Still Division
Craig F. Walker is a staff photographer for The Boston Globe. Prior to joining the Globe in 2015, he worked at the Denver Post for 17 years. Before his time out west, Walker was a photographer at Massachusetts newspapers the Berkshire Eagle and The Marlboro Enterprise.

Christian Gooden: Still Division
Christian Gooden’s career as a photojournalist began more than a quarter century ago with his first experience covering international breaking news immediately after the explosion of the 1996 Olympic Park bomb in Atlanta. While still a journalism student at Morehouse College and working as a lab technician in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s photo department, he responded immediately, helping to move the AJC’s award-winning photo report of the infamous event to press for the world community.

Still Division: Dominique Hildebrand
Dominique Hildebrand is a visual editor and storyteller. Currently, she is a photo editor at National Geographic with a focus on climate and environment stories. Previously, Dominique was a Nat Geo photo editing intern and received her master’s degree at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University with a focus on multimedia, photography, and design. She received her bachelor's in photojournalism from Point Park University in Pittsburgh, PA.

Andrea Patiño Contreras: Multimedia Division
Andrea Patiño Contreras is an Emmy-nominated video journalist from Bogotá, Colombia. She is based in Boston, where she produces, shoots and edits documentaries. Most of her work revolves around questions of migration, mobility and gender violence both in the U.S. and across Latin America. Her latest film, #IamVanessaGuillen, which explores the mental health impact of survivors of military sexual violence, was a finalist for a Livingston Award in National Reporting.

Guy Wathen: Multimedia Division
Guy Wathen has been the multimedia editor for the San Francisco Chronicle since 2017. Previously, he covered Western Pennsylvania for 16 years as a visual journalist for the Tribune-Review. The Louisville native is a graduate of Western Kentucky University, where he earned degrees in anthropology and photojournalism. His work has been honored by the National Press Photographers Association, Pictures of the Year International, the Northern Short Course, and The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

Kenzie Bruce: Multimedia Division
Kenzie Bruce is a co-creative director at Blue Chalk Media, a production company based in New York and Portland, OR that focuses on non-fiction video storytelling. At Blue Chalk, Kenzie has worked on projects for TIME, Washington Post Creative Group, The Foundry and The Magnolia Network. Before joining the Blue Chalk team, she worked in visual communications roles at The Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, an international nonprofit, and Denver Westword, an alt-weekly newspaper. Kenzie is a Chicago native and studied photojournalism at the University of Missouri. She is also a certified Wildland Firefighter Type 2.
