Amira, a young Yazidi bride, poses for friends and those who helped with hair and makeup. In late 2016, while living in the camp Amira met Samir and the two began to spend time together. Two years later Samir asked for her hand in marriage. Currently home to over 9,000 Yazidis, those living in the Bajed Kandala camp do their best to live life "normally", celebrating weddings, birthdays and religious holidays as they are able.
