Award of Excellence: No Law Until Thaw

Positioned in the middle of Centennial, Wyo. lies an old police car. The car serves as a symbol of times-gone-by for those driving through the sleepy town of 344 residents on the way to the mountains adjacent. This car has been through many Wyoming winters, both when it was operational and when it was decommissioned. Every year the winter takes something from this car, either it be a minor peeling of the paint or a dent in its side. The police car, captured sitting in the snow bank on February, 18, 2023 remains stuck until the summertime thaw each year. Wyoming, even though beautiful, can bring a sense of isolation to those who live on its vast, yet unforgiving landscape.
