On 20 October 2023, thousands protested in support of Palestine in Cairo, starting from Al-Azhar Mosque and reaching Tahrir Square. Despite restrictions on public protests, demonstrators defied security forces and remained in the square for several hours but were attacked by the security forces forcing them to leave and arresting 43 demonstrators.
