A single, short documentary film created by 1 to 5 students. Each entry should have a run time of roughly 8 to 30 minutes. The work must be non-fiction, relying on visual evidence to enrich and enhance the understanding of the subject. Documentary storytelling is grounded in truth, and docu-dramas, re-enactments, or television news reports are not allowed.
Fatak se Famous (Sudden Stardom) is a documentary exploring the lives of two families in Delhi, where social media becomes both stage and mirror for children’s creativity, ambitions, and identities. The film follows siblings Kartik (10) and Anshika (14), guided by their father Shiv as they work to build an online presence through carefully curated performances. On a parallel journey, eight-year-old Arisha finds her voice in poetry and acting, supported by her mother. With quiet observation, the film captures rehearsals, recordings, encouragements, frustrations, and reflections, offering a glimpse into the everyday complexities of growing up performing for an unseen audience. It raises urgent questions: What does it mean for a child to chase fame in a digital world? How do parents balance nurturing talent with safeguarding childhood?
The film situates itself in a cultural moment where recognition can arrive instantly, with a single viral video. It documents how democratized visibility is reshaping childhood, creativity, and family aspirations, in India and beyond. More than a story of social media influencers, it is about the evolving meaning of ambition and identity in an age where recognition may be only a scroll away.
