The Romani: A Forgotten Generation. Digging for Bread. Dobrin Hendre (15) digs up power cables that have been left in the abandoned artillery firing range near Cheriu, Romania on April 17, 2013. The cables supply the family with metals that they can sell in the nearby city of Oradea. The heavy gauge cables that are gathered in a full day of digging will earn them enough money to buy bread and water.
