CPOY 70 International Picture Story Bronze: 5th annual festival for the godess Gadhimai

Every five years, conducted a huge religious sacrificial ceremony to honor the goddess Gadhimai, she represents power, happiness and prosperity. During the long festival is Dero sacrificed thousands of buffaloes. This scenario played out at the temple of the goddess which is just 14 kilometers from the Indian border. For this event pilgrimages of thousands of people from India and Nepal to sacrifice animals such as buffalo, goats and pigeons to the goddess. It's a more than 450 year old religious tradition, which only takes place every five years in the small town Bariyarpur.
