CPOY 73 Domestic Picture Story Award of Excellence: Twenty Seconds of Peace

Life on the street is an eternal fight. Defeat, prejudice and the biting cold is everyday life. Martin is one of those living their life in the cold. Dreams, needles and love carries him through the night and day. Martin is homeless, a drug addict and in love. Social inequality in Denmark is on the rise. Never have there been more young people living on the streets. The city of Aarhus alone now have more than 700 registered homeless people under the age of 29.

Lina, shooting up cocaine. They normally start the day with heroin and continue with cocaine later. Martin shoots up to ten times a day. Lina, a bit less. Some days they use as much as 250$ on cocaine. All the money comes from begging on the streets.
