The company has received big investments from China, and they claim that the rare minerals, they want to extract, are going to be used for producing windmills and green energy in general. But this is not why the critics are skeptical. They say that the extraction of these minerals will include a byproduct of radioactive substances such as uranium. The radioactive waste will be dumped in a lake, that runs through Narsaq, and therefore they fear a lot of local pollution in the town.
