CPOY 77 Documentary Photographic Project Gold: Absence
A long-form narrative picture story or photographic essay that may span multiple years and portrays important contemporary concerns or social issues. To encourage long-term projects, images from previous years' work may be included, provided none of them have previously won a CPOY award. Half of the photographs in the entry must have been taken between August 23, 2021 and August 22, 2022.

Members of the SNUG (Should Never Use Guns) outreach team watch young kids play basketball at the Clinton Baden Community Center on Nov. 12, 2021. In addition to patrolling neighborhoods, the SNUG team interacts with members of the communities to make a name for themselves as a resource to be used, and to encourage positive lifestyles to stop kids from falling into the cycle of violence.
