Since the beginning of the war I'd often have trouble believing the image that came from my retina. Nothing would indicate the presence of the destructive forces tearing apart my homeland, nevertheless, I could tell they were there. For some time, it had been disturbing imagining havoc brought to my city of residence, a somewhat gloomy place, but it became painful once I went to visit Samara. The city of Samara lies along the Volga river, and it is famous for its laid back vibe, beer and beaches. Its residents even came up with the term “the Volga hedonism”, which explains the lifestyle of people in the city. I decided I'd make a physical manifestation of the image I could only see with my mind's eye. I would shoot a film, capturing a perfect day at the beach, and then riddle it with the air rifle bullets, consuming matter and creating places void of life.
