As Russia’s war in Ukraine approached its second year since the full-scale invasion, I returned again for six weeks. From Kyiv to the frontline, the toll of war was evident. Wounded soldiers and civilians flooded hospitals, and daily funerals marked the cost of the war while the grind of battle continued.
