Aya's boots lay on the deck of their houseboat at Confey on June 2, 2024. The lifestyle restrictions and lack of community Sammy and Niamh Owens-Khalid faced during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown following the birth of their eldest, Aya, was one of the primary factors that motivated their transition to the liveaboard life. The community welcomed them immediately even making space for the family to easily access the mooring facilities.
