Bernard helps Mary get up from the commode in the living room of their home. She suffers from urinary tract infections and combined with the memory loss, she frequently thinks she has to use the facilities while other times she looses control of her bladder without realizing it. Bernard helps her to the restroom countless times during the day and night. The commode was put in the living room because it was easier for both of them to access as opposed using the toilet in the bathroom. "I've got a tough job, but I love her and I'll take care of her, for better or worse," Bernard said.
