Tajeria Beacham walks out her family's apartment at Lakeside apartments during a family member's birthday party. Holly Orr, Tajeria's mother, said the family used to live in the infamously dangerous Cabrini Green housing projects. The family came to Iowa City five years ago after the after the projects were torn down looking for a fresh start. Tajeria, who recently graduated high school from Iowa City High School, is now in her first year of college at University of Northern Iowa. She is the first in her family to go to college.
