Faced with about $900,000 less income expected for the city in 2012, Mayor Bill Schmitt spread his work out in front of him while tallying totals in lieu of talking to members of the city council as they hammered out budget details, spending spent much of their daylong budget session talking to department heads to figure out where to pare the budget on July 19.
