Mental problems are on a rise among the youth of Denmark. Many are not ill enough for treatment at the hospitals but they are not healthy enough to cope with an education and a youth marked by ever higher demands for performance, flexibility and the perfect life. Half of the Danish women between 18 and 34 years of age deal with mental problems according to a report from 2016 and during the last seven years the prescription of anti-depressive medicine to children and youth has increased with 60 % in Denmark. Studies also show that the young generations of Danes are not as happy as the older generations. For many the mental problems can result in depressions, anxiety, eating disorders or self-destructive behavior as cutting.
