In the rural parts of Sweden, teenage boys and girls, age 15 to 17 build a culture around modifying and driving special cars. The vehicles can legally pass as tractors and as such they come with severe restrictions. Having their own means of transportation becomes essential to a life independent from too much parent involvement. To get this freedom they will settle for pretty much anything. The so called EPA tractors represent a lifestyle to the owners and they somehow become a materializations of ‘teenage life’, they come to function as canvases for expression of self-identity. They change colors, scent and sound to match the interests of the young owners. - a hybrid between a real car and a play car, a place to experiment and push boundaries. EPA tractors are three teenage years of friendships, longings, confusing emotions, huge loudspeakers, long summers and awkward first kisses stacked on four wheels, cruising their way to adulthood with a top speed of 30 km/h.
