John Knud Høegh-Olsen is one of the few people in Southern Greenland, who hopes the mine will become a reality. He lives 50 kilometers away from Kvanefjeld, in a small town called Narsarsuaq, that only has around 100 inhabitants. “If the mine comes, I think there will travel loads of people to Narsaq and Southern Greenland to work there. They will have money, and they will need something to eat. The people in Narsaq will easily get jobs at cafes and restaurants, so they have no reason to complain”, he says about the project.
As a mine supporter he is tired of the fact that you can’t say your opinion out loud, without people are coming with hateful comments towards him. He has written many posts on social media about the mine, and he receives a lot of death threats in his mail box. He says that he can’t go outside without looking over his shoulder in fear of getting attacked by activist.
