On February 16, 2022, in a temporary shelter outside Caritas Medical Center in Hong Kong, China, a patient lies in a hospital bed waiting for medical treatment. The temperature drops at night. Medical staff test the patient for COVID-19, and the patient is put on thermal insulation products. The Food and Health Bureau confirmed a new record of 4,285 infections, while 7,000 people initially tested positive, a near-record high. At least 12,000 infected people are waiting to be admitted to hospitals as COVID-19 cases overwhelm the public health system.
