On 26 July 2022, Hannah, also known as Günter, aged 71, poses in Georgengarten in Hanover. This park has a deep meaning for her: it was here that she walked in high heels in public for the first time, marking the moment when she was perceived as female in public and openly expressed her queerness. This step into visibility was a turning point in her life. Today, she enjoys presenting herself as either a man or a woman. She finds it interesting to observe how other people assess her gender identity. Having come out late in life, she now lives out her queer identity in a choir, in the theatre and as a model. She also attends a queer senior citizens' group in Hanover, a regular meeting place for people over 60 who support each other and share their experiences. This gathering offers a rare place where queerness in later life is openly acknowledged and celebrated.
