Isaac, Cassander, Papa, and Eustus are practicing their rap. The boys at Nsansa are highly creative, and they use that creativity to tell their stories - about life on the streets or about how they feel. Most of them rap, and they especially enjoy to freestyle. Here, they are rehearsing for a music-video they plan to record and upload to YouTube. Isaac (13) raps about missing his mother. Project description: At a boys’ home in Lusaka, 25 former street boys now live together. They carry heavy stories of violence, abuse, and neglect - yet also tales of brotherhood, community, and resilience, where the will to survive has long been their daily driving force. Nsansa means joy in one of Zambia’s local languages. Established in 2014, Nsansa Village Community Development Mission is a non-governmental organization (NGO) that cares for Zambia’s street children by providing education, shelter, healthcare, detox programs, and skills training. At the home, boys aged 6 to 21 share life side by side - they sleep together, attend school together, cook together, and form each other’s family. Most of them have nowhere to go, all of them are determined to build a better life for themselves.
