Eddie Ramirez of Portland, Ore., center left, Brian Gott of Otsego, Mich., and Logan Musgrave of Jasper hooted and hollered with the rest of their platoon as they rooted on a fellow soldier-in-training who was climbing a 40-foot wall at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., Sept. 26. Logan’s best friends at camp were Ramirez and Gott, whom he met during a layover in transit to the base. All three were assigned to Echo Company, 787 Military Police Battalion, nicknamed “the Punishers” because it took on a lot of physical training from drill sergeants. “It’s always good to have friends on your side,” Logan said. “We’ve had rough patches and disagreements, but they’ve definitely helped me get through boot camp.”
