'Ali' looking at the trees, trying to find peace in his mind. Ali fled Syria alone during the war, he is an unaccompanied refugee. He has been in Denmark for a couple of years now, but because he is a child, he must to wait until his 18th birthday, before he can apply for asylum. He is here without any of his family and friends from home. Every day is a step closer to clarification to the question: Can he stay or will he be sent back? When a child without the proper paperwork seeks asylum in Denmark, their age is determined by a doctor, who looks at the bone structure and teeth development. They are then given a new birthday. Ali is now 17, and he is worried he will be sent back when his birthday comes. For now, he can only wait together with the other unaccompanied refugee children at their temporary residence. Ali's name has been changed due to anonymity.
