Award of Excellence: Fatigue
April 17, 2021
The concert is over, fatigue people lie on the dancefloor. The authorities have been using COVID as a pretext for prohibiting political meetings of the opposition while easing or completely ignoring those restrictions in their own interests. As common people were being fined for not wearing gloves in the subway, top government officials often made public appearances without a mask on. All of this makes the restrictions look like a farce, invites resistance to mass vaccination and causes a distrust of the official statistics. Patrons must wear masks in order to buy a drink at the bar counter but the masks go off as soon as the customers get to the dancefloor where people hug, kiss each other and drink from the same glass. Every venue has a “mask required” door sign but as soon as you enter it, it’s only up to you whether to wear it or let your hair down.
