Linda and Kaj did not know at that point in time that they were just some of the first mink breeders and that it was probably a final goodbye to their profession. They had plans to buy a new batch of mink when it was again allowed to breed. That's not how it turned out. A few weeks later, their fate became symptomatic of all the country's mink farmers. The decision was made due to a fear that a future corona vaccine would not work after a mutated virus was found among the infected mink.
