A body of work that demonstrates versatility, expertise and depth and showcases a photographer's vision
An activist from the "Levante Popular da Juventude" or "Popular Youth Uprising" group takes part in a protest near a beachside kiosk, where Congolese refugee Moise Kabagambe was beaten to death while working at Barra da Tijuca beach, in Rio de Janeiro. Moise was a Congolese immigrant who fled his country to find job opportunities in Brazil. He was working as an assistant of a Kiosk in the Barra da Tijuca beach. He used to take two hours to get in his work, which did not guarantee any workers' right for him because of his situation. Moise's case became a symbol on how structural racism shapes the Brazilian society.
