Boys who live at Francisco Romao landless settlement walk on the Carajas Railroad to observe the animals the train killed. They have their shirts on their heads because it makes the smell from the decomposing animals less worse. There are many records of animals killed by the railroad, as it also transports grains, like the soy that is cropped near the settlement. Many of the protests happened because the residents wanted protection to avoid having their animals killed after crossing the railroad.
