Maria Dantas, an ex resident from Piquia de Baixo, stands of the door of her old room at her old house in the neighborhood. Her husband, Edvard Dantas, died in 2019 due to lung issues. Medics and residents say her husband died because he inhaled too much iron powder, processed in Piquia de Baixo's steel factories. The ceiling is also damaged because the powder accumulates on top of it until it fell inside the house.
