A normal town filled with normal people and normal things — growing up in Hillsborough was by no means dynamic. It would be a lie, however, to say that I never catch glimmers of wonder whenever I return home. The fog swallows the familiar landscape, transforming it. It's the last day of the year, and the moment feels precious, a new year awaiting on the other side of a curtain.
