"Words are unneccesary as I look at what you and your lense captured. It's Us in our most intimate and vulnerable moments. No pretense. No masks. What remains is our forever love," Mary Redmond told me after I shared images with her of her and her husband, Dwain. This image is from the project 'My 33 year love story' documenting Mary as she provides care for her husband who suffers from Alzheimer's. Here, Mary holds Dwain's hand while he lays in a hospital bed after experencing a stroke he had at their kitchen table a week prior on May 10, 2023 at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Mo. He passed away with Mary by his side in the early morning hours of May 20th at the KC Hospice House.
