Steve Remich (Co-Coordinator): Steve Remich attended James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va., and graduated in 2001 with a degree in environmental studies and geology. In 2004 he studied photojournalism at the Visual Arts Center in Portsmouth, Va., where he worked on a project to produce a photojournalism book, "Acts of Optimism." In 2006 he began studying photojournalism at the University of Missouri.
Eddie Quinones (Co-Coordinator): Eddie Quinones graduated from Ohio State University in 1997 with a bachelors degree in international studies. He volunteered his time as a darkroom instructor for the Chicago Photography Center and the Jane Addams Hull House and taught photography to underprivileged youth at the Cesar Chavez Catholic Worker House in East Chicago, Ind. In the winter of 2006, he enrolled at the University of Missouri as a masters student in photojournalism.
Leah Gallo (Co-Coordinator): Leah Gallo attended Villanova University in Pennsylvania, and graduated in 2001 with degrees in biology and psychology. She began at the University of Missouri in 2004. She has since used her photography to fundraise for a village in Mali, and has worked under the professional photographer Dan White for six months assisting with the completion of a series of portraits entitled "The Fine Art of Kansas City Jazz."
Rita Reed (Director): Rita Reed has served as Director of the College Photographer of the Year competition for the past six years. She is an Associate Professor in the photojournalism sequence of the Missouri School of Journalism. Prior to joining the University of Missouri faculty, Reed worked as a photojournalist for the Star Tribune in Minneapolis. She was the 1993 recipient of the NPPA/Nikon Documentary Sabbatical Grant.
Brett Slaughter (Web Administrator): Brett Slaughter graduated from the Missouri School of Journalism in May 2005. A sergeant in the Army, Slaughter took a year off school to serve in Iraq. He is a self-taught web programmer, learning Internet technologies and programming during his time at the University of Missouri. He has been responsible for maintaining this website since 2003.
