Two Syrian girls in the Kara Tepe camp on Lesbos. The happiness often witnessed at the shores were not present in the camps on Lesbos. After the arrival at the coast the refugees had to registrar in the camps 60 kilometers away. In the beginning of 2015 there were no busses and people were not allowed to drive them. That meant a multiday hike to the camps. In November 2015 (the time of this photo) busses drove from places near the shore to the camps but there could be a long waiting time. The camps were overburdened and many refugees got stock for days or weeks not knowing when they could move on.
