Residents of Açailandia city have fun during a sunday at the Piquia de Baixo River's club. Many residents of the neighborhood enjoy the weather at the small river. Although polluted due to the many steel factories based in Piquia de Baixo processing the iron from Carajas Mine, some residents do not care to bath in these waters. The train carrying the iron also comes every 20 minutes. Piquia de Baixo is one of the most impacted communities along the Carajas railroad.
