Inside Argentina's largest open-air landfill, hundreds of low-income residents suffer chronic health issues from toxic smoke. Tierra Quemada follows Sergio Almada, a community leader whose life and health have been shaped by decades of exposure to the dump. Six years ago, federal courts approved $12 million to convert the facility into an environmental center, but President Milei's austerity measures have stalled the project. Tierra Quemada captures the complex intersection of poverty, labor, and environmental justice offering a look at the choices families face between survival and safety.
