Rick Gershon, filmmaker and photographer based in Brooklyn, NY, has been Director of Photography at MediaStorm and a multimedia photojournalist and staff photographer at Getty Images. His work has received a Webby for Individual Documentary and an Emmy nomination for New Approaches to Documentary Storytelling. As a staffer he had a role in MediaStorm’s Edward R. Murrow award for electronic journalism and the Dallas Morning News’ Pulitzer for Hurricane Katrina coverage. Rick graduated from the University of North Texas in 2004 with a portfolio that earned him the title of College Photographer of the Year and an Award of Excellence in POYi’s Newspaper Photographer of the Year category. He joined the staff of the Dallas Morning News in 2005, took on learning video journalism and was named one of the top 25 up and coming photographers in American by the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University. His clients currently include the Discovery, History and Travel Channels, A&E, MediaStorm and MSNBC.
